What is the Motown Glowdown Box Lacrosse Tournament?

Motown Glowdown Box Lacrosse is a weekend youth lacrosse tournament where players compete on an indoor turf field under UV/blacklight in Morgantown, WV. Glow sticks, glow balls, and blacklight lighting create a high-energy, visually striking experience that still feels welcoming and well-organized for families.

Who is eligible to play in the tournament?

The event is open to Youth (grades 2–5), Middle School (grades 6–8), High School (grades 9–12), Girls, and Open divisions. We welcome a range of experience levels and will do our best to group teams in a way that keeps games fun, competitive, and development-focused for players of every age.

How many games does each team play, and what does the weekend schedule look like?

Every team is guaranteed a minimum of 4 games, played 6-on-6. Round robin games run Friday evening (6–9 PM), continue throughout the day Saturday, and wrap up Sunday morning, leading into championship and consolation games from 12–5 PM. A detailed game schedule will be released closer to the tournament.

Is blacklight box lacrosse safe for young players?

Yes. Games are played on a standard indoor turf field, and players wear their normal protective gear. Certified officials use age-appropriate rules, and the main twist is the lighting and glowing equipment, not the style of play. The goal is a memorable atmosphere that still feels safe, supervised, and comfortable for players and their families.

What does the registration fee include?

The $300 team entry fee covers tournament entry, round robin and championship games, glow-in-the-dark balls, and blacklight field setup. Final details will be confirmed before registration opens so managers can share clear information with their families.

Do we need to bring our own goalie gear?

Box lacrosse goalie gear is available to use for the tournament if needed. Just let us know ahead of time so we can make sure it's ready for you.

How do we register our team, and when is the deadline?

Teams will register online through the "Register Your Team" button on the Motown Glowdown site. Once registration opens, managers can complete the form, submit payment, and receive a confirmation email with next steps. We recommend registering early, as spots and divisions may fill quickly.
