Games are played on third-ice/cross-ice surfaces designed for development, with a professional, safety-first staff keeping everything organized from puck drop to final horn.

Motown Glowdown takes place in Morgantown, WV at The Hope Gas Ice Pavilion at Mylan Park, located at 500 Mylan Park Ln, Morgantown, WV, 26501. The arena offers comfortable viewing for families and a familiar, well-maintained sheet for players, all transformed by blacklight for the weekend.

Motown Glowdown is a weekend 8U mite hockey tournament where kids play third-ice/cross-ice games under UV/blacklight in Morgantown, WV. Jerseys, pucks, and tape glow on the ice, creating a high-energy, visually striking experience that still feels welcoming and well-organized for families.
The event is open to 8U mite teams with birth year 2018+. We welcome a range of experience levels, from house to travel, and will do our best to group teams in a way that keeps games fun, competitive, and development-focused for young players.
Each team is guaranteed a minimum of 4 games over the April 10–11, 2027 weekend. Saturday is round robin play all day plus a pizza and WVU watch party, and Sunday features round robin games into the afternoon championship and consolation games.
Yes. Games are played on a standard rink with boards and glass, and players wear their normal protective gear. Certified officials use age-appropriate rules, and the main twist is the lighting and glowing equipment, not the style of play. The goal is a memorable atmosphere that still feels safe, supervised, and comfortable for mites and their families.
The team entry fee $950 covers tournament entry for the full weekend, a minimum of 4 games, ice time, officials, free skate, decoration tables, glow jerseys and event operations. Final pricing details will be confirmed before registration opens so managers can share clear information with their families.
Teams will register online through the "Register Your Team" button on the Motown Glowdown site. Once registration opens, managers can complete the form, submit payment, and receive a confirmation email with next steps. We recommend registering early, as spots and divisions may fill quickly.
